What Teacup Test is

Teacup Test is an independent practice course for the Life in the UK test. It is not connected to the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration or GOV.UK. We do not book tests: GOV.UK's booking service is the only official one. We give no immigration advice. For advice about your own situation, use a regulated adviser (for example one registered with the Immigration Advice Authority, formerly the OISC, or a solicitor: GOV.UK: Find an immigration adviser). Teacup Test gives practice questions and general information about the test; it isn't immigration or legal advice. Teacup Test is for adults aged 18 and over.

Our questions

Our questions are written in our own words from the facts in the official handbook. They are not the real test's questions. Every question is checked against its fact, a second AI model re-tests our questions against their facts, and we re-test any question you report. We do not promise that you will pass, and your practice readiness (the average of your last three mock tests) is not a prediction of your result.

The courses and how long they last

  • Free: 8 full mock tests and 5 chapter drills, with every answer explained. No account.
  • Full course, until your test (£6.99): lasts until 14 days after the test date you give us, never less than 30 days and never more than 120 days from payment; 60 days if you give no date. Adding or moving your test date never shortens it.
  • Resit extension (free): if you don't pass, give us your resit date after your test and the course carries on until 14 days after it: once for each test, up to 3 times per course. It can be added from the day of your test, while your course runs or up to 30 days after the test, and not on a refunded course.
  • Tea for two (£10.99): the full course for you and one other person, each with their own login and test date. The second person claims their place within 120 days of the purchase; after that the place lapses. Their course starts only when they claim it: while it is unclaimed, within 14 days of the purchase, you can take back £4 for it on your course settings page.
  • Top-up (£2.99): 30 more days on a course you have had, added to its end. It can be bought in the course's last 14 days or after it has ended. Bought while your course is still running, its days begin on the day the course would have ended, and until then you can cancel it for a full refund on your course settings page.
  • Nothing renews and we never charge your card again.

The GOV.UK test fee

The £50 test fee is paid to GOV.UK when you book. We never charge, pay or refund it, for the first test or a resit.

Personal use

Your course is for you alone. Please don't share your login: Tea for two gives each person their own. You may not copy, scrape or republish our questions.

Translations and read-aloud

Translated explanations are made by machine and are a learning aid; the English is always there. Read-aloud uses your device's own voices. In some browsers an online voice sends the text being read to that browser's maker; we only ever read question and explanation text, never your details.

Cancellations and refunds

See our refunds & cancellation policy.

Our liability

We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable. Nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't legally be limited.

Complaints

If something's gone wrong, email hello@teacuptest.co.uk and we'll aim to resolve it within 14 days.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

Teacup Test

Independent practice, not a government service. You book your test on GOV.UK.

No immigration advice: for your own situation, use a regulated adviser (GOV.UK: find an immigration adviser; the IAA, formerly the OISC).
