The British citizenship test: free practice

When people talk about the British citizenship test, they mean the Life in the UK test. It is the same test, whether you need it for citizenship or for settlement.

What the test is

GOV.UK says"You’ll have 45 minutes to answer 24 questions about British traditions and customs."

The questions come from the official handbook. They cover British values, the four nations, history, life today, and government and the law. You need 18 right answers out of 24.

GOV.UK says"You must score 75% or more to pass the test."

Could you pass?

The test asks about dates, laws and numbers that many of us never learned at school, so it can be harder than it looks, even if you were born in the UK. Try a full mock test and see.

  • 8 free mock tests of 24 questions, timed like the real test
  • Every answer explained, right or wrong
  • Your score against the 18 line and your two weakest chapters

What we can't tell you

Whether you need the test for your own application is a question about your situation, so we can't answer it. GOV.UK explains who needs the test, and a regulated immigration adviser can advise you about your own case, for example one registered with the Immigration Advice Authority (formerly the OISC) or a solicitor (GOV.UK: find an immigration adviser).

Teacup Test is independent practice. It is not connected to the Home Office, and you book the real test on GOV.UK.
